Job Description

Microsoft’s Office of the Chief Scientific Officer is seeking Research Interns for spring, summer, or fall of 2024. This internship provides an opportunity to work within a dynamic environment collaborating on cutting-edge research projects. Interns will work closely with senior leadership on strategy and opportunities at the forefront of science and engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on projects, reviews, and syntheses in diverse research areas.
  • Support planning and coordination of scientific explorations and deep dives.
  • Contribute to the development of reports and documents to facilitate project processing.
  • Assist in the organization of public consultation programs.
  • Participate in marketing initiatives and client liaison activities.
  • Interface with clients to provide clear and solution-oriented recommendations.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an MS or PhD program in CS, EE, biology, biomedical informatics, or related STEM field.
  • Minimum 1 year of research experience with peer-reviewed publications.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop original research agendas.
  • Efficient interpersonal skills for cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.
  • Passion for unconventional efforts in pursuit of new results and directions.

Duration and Location

  • Duration: Spring, Summer, or Fall 2024
  • Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States (Up to 50% work from home)

Compensation

  • Base pay range varies based on location and level: USD $5,090 – $13,240 per month.
