Job Description

Are you a highly motivated undergraduate student pursuing a degree in IT?

MSTS is seeking qualified students for their Undergraduate Information Technology Internship program. Interns will gain hands-on experience working on ongoing projects at one of the most unique experimental sites in the United States. Internship locations include:

  • North Las Vegas, Nevada
  • Nevada National Security Site (Nevada)
  • Los Alamos and Albuquerque, New Mexico
  • Livermore and Santa Barbara, California
  • Remote Sensing Laboratories (Nevada and Maryland)

Responsibilities may include:

  • Application development
  • Data visualization and reports
  • Project management activities
  • Networking and communication projects
  • Working with systems, servers, hardware, and operating systems
  • Cloud solutions
  • End-user support
  • Level I IT support and troubleshooting
  • Hardware and software installation and upgrades
  • Client interaction (chat, phone, walk-in)
  • Creating and updating incident tickets
  • Drafting and editing knowledge articles

Skills and Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Completion of the first year in a related degree program (Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Information Science, Informatics) at an accredited institution
  • Must be actively enrolled in school with a minimum 3.0 GPA (transcript required)
  • Excellent planning, organization, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office and programming preferred)
  • Experience with hardware and software installation a plus
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain a HSPD-12 security clearance

Duration and Location

  • Casual position (maximum 900 hours per year)
  • Internship locations vary (see details above)
  • Summer 2024 program dates: May 21st – August 9th

Compensation

  • $15.00 – $22.46 hourly
